Meeting Minutes




Meeting began at 7:18 pm by President Renée Zernitsky.


Renée announced that the annual dues of $12 are due now.  Please pay Treasurer John Strobl.  John prepared a summary of for the Treasurer's Report.  The current balance is $636.80.  In 2016, we had income of $504.00 from dues.  The expenses were $513.85; consisting of speakers ($350.00), website fee ($135.85) and photo contest prizes ($28.00).


Warwick Library Photo Exhibit.   The club will be showing photos at the Warwick Public Library during the month of March. Photo hanging will be either February 28th or March 1st.  The photos will be selected at the February Meeting by a jury of Greg Miller and Jay Beaumont.  Photos should be at least 8” by 10”.  Up to three photos may be submitted.  Framing is not necessary for the jury selection.  If you are unable to attend the February meeting, but want to enter a photo; please contact Renée.  The theme of the show is “Photographer’s Choice”. For uniformity, please frame the photos with a black frame and a white mat.   Kelly, volunteered to be the exhibit chairperson and will coordinate with the library staff.  Pete will run the ads for us. We have the Photographer Bio’s from last year.  If you did not exhibit last year, or if you want to update your bio, please send your bio to Sheila Almond at


Field Trips.  Mary Sheilds reported that Storm King Art Center will be open on January 28 and 29 from 11 to 3.  May libraries had day passes for Storm available for free.  The NY Botanical Garden is hosting an orchid show featuring orchids from Thailand.  The dates are February 18 thru April 4.  Adams Fair Acre Farms of Newburgh will host a flower show from February 24 thru March 5. And the following month at their Fishkill location.  Mary, will check into eagle watching opportunities.  Members should check out Orange County Land Trust - OCLT.ORG for trail information. There is a new trail off of the Heritage Trail near the old Camp LaGuardia and Fuller Mountain Preserve in Warwick.

Our Guest speaker was John DeSanto. John gave a very entertaining and enlightening presentation about his life as a photojournalist. Explaining the difficulties, he encountered shoot everyday events for The Times Herald Record and Orange Magazine.
