January Meeting Minutes 2019

Renée called the meeting to order at 7:07

  • Dues for 2019 were collected at this meeting

  • John is a bit under the weather and getting better each day. A get-well card was passed around and flowers were sent to his home with Get Well Wishes from all of us.

  • The exhibit at the Town of Wallkill Town Hall, is up. Please take the time to see this exhibit. It’s a joint exhibit with the Chester Camera Club (HHPW) In all, 40 images, 20 from each club, are on display. The show extends till the end of February.

  • Renée passed a members’ information sheet to get up-to-date information. If you missed this meeting please be sure your information is correct for emails and contact information

  • Our annual Warwick Library Juried Exhibit is on the Calendar for March 1st.  All images need to be juried at our February meeting for approval to the show.

  • The topic of allowing club exhibitors use other types of framing for this show, was voted upon at this meeting. Renée will adjust the rules for this event.  Club members voted to allow frames, matts, photo media to be at the photographer’s choice.  Prints are due at the February Meeting for jurying.  The theme is “Photographer’s Eye”.

  • The club is planning a June exhibit at Nobel Roaster’s Café, on Route 207 and Stony Ford Road, in Campbell Hall.  There is no theme as of yet. It is not a juried exhibit!  There is enough room for at least 20 photos. So, sign up early if you wish to participate. All work must be framed and ready to hang. The space can handle 8x10 or 11x14 photos. (11x14 is recommended) Drop off will be the end of May.  Meet the photographer’s reception date to be announced. There is a fee for participants to cover cost of refreshments.

  • The club, presently, has an exhibit at Glen Arden. The photos will stay up at Glen Arden until we hear from them. Since they are winter photo’s, we may want to consider removing them by the end of March.

  • Renée has an image in the Gardiner Library Exhibit in Gardiner. “Focus & Light” Till the end of January.  This is a Mohonk Preserve group show.

  • The 2019 themes are on the Clubs web page and will be posted to the Club’s Facebook page.  The theme for January is “Self Portraits”.

  • We are working on placing exhibits at both the Washingtonville and new Goshen Library.

  • Club name tags – All voted to keep them. Diane offered to help out.

  • The Field Trip Committee, Joe Fordham and Mary Shields put together a list of field trips for each month.  To be posted to the FB and Web page

  • The first trip will be a Sunrise Hike on January 26th, to Little Stony Point.  The site is just north of Cold Spring, along the Hudson River. Signup sheet went around. Check email for details.

  • Tom Mormile suggested a meeting activity where members bring their laptops and work within small groups to learn how to edit photos in Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, and Lightroom. Renée will work on getting details about this

  • Renée and Jay are working on speakers for the remainder of the year. Greg is booked for February.

The remainder of the meeting was an open discussion and image previews by Michael, Judy, Chip and Jay. And  previews of theme images from members.
