SJCC September 2017 Meeting Minutes 

  • President Renée Zernitsky called the meeting to order at 7:00.

  • Renée announced she met with the other officers and the Committee chair people to discuss the club status, and update changes we thought might help the club function better.

  • The Photo Expo is coming up shortly.  If you sign up now it is essentially free. 

  • Robin Kelly announced the next Goshen Art Walk is October 14th from 1pm to 4pm on Main Street.  The deadline for club entries for display is September 30th.  Send Robin the Title and Price for each piece.  Jack Miller made the display board.  Photos should be framed and ready for hanging.

  • Renée introduced Linda Fairweather, the Membership Chairperson.  Linda keeps track of the active members and send up-to-date list to the officers and committee chair people.

  • Renée announced that Pete Styczek is moving out of the area, and Jay Beaumont is taking over the guest speaker duties.

  • Mary Shields has a great list of places to take photographs.  She wants to do at least one field trip per month.  On Stone Crop Gardens near Cold Spring is open on Monday at 10 am.  Entry fee is $5.00.  Renée said the club will be going to Fort Montgomery sometime in October.  In addition, she suggested that the club try photographing sunsets at Wawayanda Park in New Jersey.  The best location is near the boat launch.

  • Robin Kelly will be contacting the new Washingtonville Library about doing an exhibit.  It is reopening on September 16th.  She will seek to set up an exhibit at the new Goshen Library and the Tuxedo Library.

  • Jay described the end of year photo contest.  There will be three categories – Landscapes, Black and White, and Photographers Choice.  Members are encouraged to submit one photograph in each category.  In addition, there will be vote for Best-In-Show.  All winners will receive Ribbons, and the Best-In-Show and First Place winners will receive a gift card.

  • Jay made a motion to have a 50/50 raffle at the Holiday Party.  Ron seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously.

  • Jay moved to raise the annual dues to $24.  Chip Hansen seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously.

  • Sheila Almond has created an album for photos on the Club Facebook Page.  She will work with Clif to put monthly photos of the members on Facebook.

  • Aaron Babcock helped setup the club webpage.  Send Renée photos to put on the webpage gallery.

  • A permanent screen has been purchased in partnership with St. James Church.  They are making arrangements to install the screen.  The cost will be about $500.  We also intend to purchase wireless remotes for the club and church.  We will split the cost 50/50.

  • This month’s speaker was Diane Bollen of DragonFly Studios in Warwick.  She spoke of Photography Journey and How to Pose Groups.
